(1) 做；制作；制造:

Can you make any mooncakes?

(2)使，迫使，令：

①主动句：make sb. do sth. :

I don't likemilk, but she made me drink it.

Don't make thebaby cry anymore. 不要再让那个孩子哭了。

Sad moviesmake me cry. (来自Unit11单元题目)

②被动句：sb. be made to do sth. :

She was madeto wait for over an hour. 她被迫等了一个多钟头。

◆英语中，类似于make这种用法的动词还有let, have, hear, see, watch, notice, feel等。如：

I saw him putthe key into the keyhole, turn it and open the door. 我看见他把钥匙插进锁孔，转动钥匙，然后打开了门。

She was seento go into the classroom. 有人看见她进了教室。

③make 作系动词，其后跟形容词作表语：

The awfulpicture s make Amy uncomfortable. (选自Unit11 SectionB 1b)

The loudmuseic makes Amy nevous.

关于make 的短语：

make a mistake犯错误

make friends with 与……交朋友

make a decision to do sth决定做某事。decide to do sth.

make a face 做鬼脸

make a living 谋生；维持生活

make one's bed 铺床；收拾床铺

make sure 确信；务必；弄清楚

1c. would rather……than…… 的用法：

一.宁愿做某事而不愿做某事的可以同义句转换的4个短语：

1.would rather do sth. than do sth. 宁愿做…… 而不愿做……

I would ratherstay at home than go shopping.

2.prefer doing sth. to doing sth.

①宁愿做…… 而不愿做……

②喜欢做……而不喜欢做……

I prefer staying at home to going shopping.我宁愿呆在家里也不愿去购物。

3. prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.

I prefer to stay at home rather than go shopping.我喜欢呆在家里，而不喜欢购物。

4.sb.do sth.instead of doing sth.

I stay at home instead of going shopping.

我待在家里而不是去购物。

二.would ratherdo sth.宁愿做某事：

I’d rather goto Blue Ocean because I like to listen to quiet music while I`m eating.

2b.drive sb.crazy/mad使人发疯发狂。

课文原句：Waiting for Amy drove Tina crazy.

2d.the more…the more… 越…越…

2.be friends with sb.成为某人的朋友。

课文原句:It makes Alice unhappy because she thinks Julieis now better friends with me than with her.

3.leave out忽略；不提及；不包括。3a.worry的用法

1.worry可作及物动词，意为“使烦恼”，“使焦虑”，常接sb.作宾语。如：

(1)What worried you so much? 什么事使你这么着急？

(2)His bad health worried his parents greatly. 你身体不好,使他的父母很发愁。

2.worry也可作不及物动词，意为“烦恼”、“担心”、“发愁”，常跟介词about或over如：

(1)Tell them not to worry. 告诉他们不要担心。

(2)They are worrying about the coming exam. 他们正在为即将到来的考试而发愁。

3.worry about和be worried about都表示“对……担心，忧虑”。如：

(1)Don't worry about John. He'll be back soon. 不必为约翰担忧，他马上就回。

Don't be worried about John. He'll be back soon.

(2)There's nothing to worry about. 没有什么要担心的。

4.worry后接从句时，也表示“为……担心”，此时不用介词，worry可看作及物动词。如：

(1)The teacher worried that the exam might be too difficult for herstudents.这位老师担心此次考试对她的学生来说可能太难了些。

(2)Don't worry how much you spend. 别担心花多少钱。

二.kick sb. off开除某人。

三.be hard on sb.对某人苛刻

对某人要求严格。课文原句：Look,Peter.Idon`t know what happened.But whatever it was,don`t be too hard on yourself.皮特，我不知道发生了什么，但是无论是什么，都不要对自己太苛刻，太严格。

四.be close to接近，靠近（to是介词）。

课文原句：We were so close to winning that game.我们如此接近赢得比赛。

五.continue to 继续做某事

But I think if we continue to pull together,(齐心协力，通力合作)we`re going to win the next one. 但是我认为，如果我们继续齐心协力，通力合作的话，我相信我们将会赢得下一场比赛的。
